Sgt. of Arms, Jill Williams


Jill Williams is a long time resident of Yonkers, NY, where she was born and raised.  She attended Yonkers Public Schools, where graduated and later expanded her education at Westchester Community College.  Jill's aspirations in life are to provide opportunities for her community, to motivate and encourage individuals in recognizing their full potential and to continue to share this desire to aid others.  She has been able to promote substantial change in her neighborhood and in individuals through support, empowered by her compassion.  She takes pride in engaging in her community through her life-long service based, professional work experiences and volunteer efforts.


She currently works in the Yonkers Public Schools system and has held the position as a One-on-One Aide and later became as Asst. Adult for 19.5 years.  In addition to her work experience; it includes the position as an Afterschool Leader at the YWCA of Yonkers for 12 years and now as a Receptionist in the Administration Dept.  Jill works at the Parks & Recreation Dept. with the City of Yonkers for 15 years in the seasonal months.  She was employed as an Arts & Crafts Teacher and oversaw the YPS gyms during the basketball season.  Through her advocacy involvement; she belongs to several organizations: Rosebud Temple #297 for 12 years (1984-1996): Doorkeeper, A participant in the Flower Dept./Rosebud Temple Queen (White Plains, NY), Community Sunset Temple #1132 for 13 years in various committees and returned in 2020 as a Doorkeeper and Member in good standing (Yonkers, NY), Sam Dow Women's Auxiliary 1017 for 15 years and has held the position as Sgt. of Arms for 7 years.  She is currently an Elected Official with the Yonkers African American Heritage Committee and is also the Fundraiser Chairperson.

She has volunteered at numerous public events; including book signings, theatrical events, care drives, clothing & coat drives, bake sales and other events that encourage social change.  Overall, Jill's wish is to inspire and become a voice for the voiceless demonstrated in her care and love for her community.
